In June 2023, Denmark launched a new national action plan to prevent and combat intimate partner violence and intimate partner killings. This is the most ambitious plan to date, comprising 26 initiatives and a budget of approximately 234 million DKK for the period 2023–2026. The action plan was developed in consultation with women’s rights organizations, domestic abuse shelters, and other stakeholders, and emphasizes strengthening awareness, prevention, and early detection of intimate partner violence. The plan also prioritizes interventions targeting perpetrators and support for children who witness violence at home.
